Fund Purpose: To support candidate members, guests, and invited individuals to attend the annual SUN meetings, particularly those traveling internationally.
The Society of University Neurosurgeons, founded in 1965, is an international neurosurgical organization with representation from major academic centers across the globe. The SUN membership is comprised of neurosurgical leaders representing all subspecialities of neurosurgery. There are currently over 110 active SUN members and 45 senior members.
Each year, the SUN annual meeting takes place at a leading academic center renowned for neurosurgical expertise. Over the past several years, meetings have been held at University of Zagreb in Dubrovnik, Croatia; Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Whitefish, MT; Prague, Czech Republic; New York University/Langone Medical Center in Manhattan, NY, and most recently the University of Adelaide in Adelaide, Australia.
The annual meeting focuses on the exchange of innovative and thought-provoking neurosurgical research, presented in a friendly yet provocative forum. The first day of the meeting is typically devoted to speakers from the hosting academic center. The following scientific sessions are devoted to academic speakers from around the globe, presenting the latest innovations in neurosurgery. In addition to a robust academic agenda, the annual SUN meeting provides extraordinary cultural and social opportunities to engage and interact with neurosurgeons from around the globe.
